  • A 42-year-old Clayton man is facing rape charges in connection with the alleged sexual assault of a girl younger than 12.
Troy L. Richardson is accused of sexually abusing the girl at his home in the 600 block of Riverdale Lane, according to court documents.
The Delaware Division of Family Services first contacted the Clayton Police Department about the alleged assaults on May 13 after the victim reported the incidents to her mother during a Mother's Day trip to Philadelphia, the records state.
During an investigation into the allegations, court documents say police learned Richardson allegedly "touched" and "inspected" the child's genitalia on two different occasions approximately a year ago.
Richardson is charged with two counts of second-degree rape, two counts of first-degree sexual abuse of a child by a person of trust and two counts of endangering the welfare of a child.
Richardson later was released on a $62,000 secured bond, court records show.
