A portion of Smyrna Avenue in Clayton will be closed this week due to work at the railroad crossing.
DelDOT Public Information Officer Louise Holt announced the closing in a press release last week.
Smyrna Avenue between Bassett Street and Clayton Avenue will be closed by Norfolk Southern Railroad due to work to the railroad crossing.
The railroad crossing, along with two others in the state, were closed at 7 a.m. June 17 with an anticipated reopen date of Monday, June 24 at 7 a.m., pending weather. Holt said the work could be delayed due to weather or other unforeseen circumstances.
DelDOT will post signs to alert motorists of the closure and the accompanying detour routes.
