Dover Police have arrested the man believed to have robbed a local bank.
The robbery occurred just before 2 p.m. Monday at the WSFS Bank at 290 S. DuPont Highway, Dover, said police spokesman Capt. Tim Stump. The suspect, later identified as Voncel V. Tate, 28, of the 200 block of Alley Corner Road, allegedly went into the bank with his head covered and handed a teller a note indicating he had a bomb. The robber received an undisclosed amount of cash and fled.
Tate was spotted shortly thereafter at the IHOP restaurant on South Little Creek Road, just across from the bank, and taken into custody without incident by police patrol officers.
Tate was charged with first-degree robbery and wearing a disguise during the commission of a felony. He was jailed at the James T. Vaughn Correctional Center in default of a $27,500 cash-only bond.
