  • The DNREC Division of Fish and Wildlife announced additional details today regarding construction at the Collins Beach Boat Ramp near Smyrna and the Rosedale Beach boat ramp near Millsboro. Rather than being closed for up to multiple weeks as originally anticipated, both ramp locations will remain mostly open but with limited access. Construction may be completed before Thursday, Aug. 1 as weather conditions permit.
From now through Thursday, Aug. 1, boaters will have limited access to the Collins Beach ramp. "The ramp is open, but boaters should be prepared for active construction crews on site while we make repairs and improvements for public use," said DNREC Fisheries Administrator John Clark.
Boaters should plan to park their vehicles and trailers in the upper lot. The ramps will be inaccessible for one day during final paving, with that date to be announced during the construction process. Also, to allow drying and setting time for new concrete aprons on the boat ramps, the two ramps will be alternately closed for seven days each, with one ramp open for access during that stage of construction.
Boaters who regularly use the Collins Beach ramp for access to the upper Delaware Bay and Delaware River may opt to use the Woodland Beach Boat Ramp, located on Woodland Beach Road in Woodland Beach, or the Augustine Boat Ramp on Route 9 in Port Penn.
The Rosedale Beach Boat Ramp also will be open with limited access during construction, which is expected to be completed in about a week. The ramp and parking area will be inaccessible for one day during final paving, with that date to be announced during the construction process. Boaters who regularly use the Rosedale Beach ramp for access to the Indian River Bay may opt to use the Masseys Landing Boat Ramp, located on Long Neck Road in Long Neck.
