  • While the crowds were a bit low the first few hours, Delawareans and out-of-state guests flocked to the Delaware State Fairgrounds in Harrington Thursday for opening day of the fair.
The fair will run through Saturday, July 27.
Locals who plan to hit the fair this weekend can expect a bit of relief from the heat later this weekend. While temperatures are expected to reach 95 degrees on Friday, they will begin to drop with weather.com forecasting a high of 87 degrees for the Harrington area on Sunday and 84 degrees on Monday.
Organizers have plenty planned for the week, with big-name acts like Luke Bryan, Trace Adkins, Three Doors Down and Jeff Duhham taking the stage at the M&T Bank Grandstand. And, it wouldn't be a fair without tons of carnival rides, agriculture exhibits and oh yes, the scrumptious fair food.
