  • The 2013 Ronald McDonald Summer Library Tour will make a stop in Smyrna Thursday at the Smyrna Public Library at 1 p.m.
The tour is in its fourth year and is done through the McDonald's Owner/Operators of the Greater Philadelphia Region, Inc. The Smyrna Public Library is located on South Main Street.
As part of the fun and festivities, Ronald McDonald will make a $1,000 donation to the Smyrna Public Library children's section. Ronald McDonald will perform his, "It's Book Time With Ronald" show, which reinforces appropriate library use, proper care of books, and the importance of excitement and imagination while reading.
More than 120 libraries from across the region are participating in this year's Ronald McDonald Summer Reading Program, which features the distribution of McDonald's bookmarks to children with memberships to each participating library. When a child has read 10 books over the course of the summer, they will be able to take the bookmark to their local McDonald's to redeem it for a free Happy Meal.
