The Clayton Election Committee will meet tonight, July 31, at 6:30 p.m. for their first meeting since the committee was formed earlier this month.
The meeting will be at town hall located at 414 Main Street.
The purpose of the meeting is to discuss election hours, and whether or not the town should extend voting hours. Currently, residents can vote in the town election from 2 to 7 p.m. The is the last Tuesday in April.
The idea of possibly extending voting hours came from resident Howard Blackstone after the April 30 election. Blackstone lost in the election to Mayor Tom Horn, Councilman Alex Dias, and Councilman Skip Carrow for one of the three-open seats on council.
Clayton Town Council seats are two-year terms.
