  • The Young Waterfowlers hunting safety course in Smyrna is open to boys and girls ages 12 to 18. The free classes will start Thursday, Sept. 12 and continue on Tuesdays and Thursdays through Oct. 8 from 7 to 9 p.m. The program will be held at the home of instructor Larry Poore.
    Topics will include waterfowl identification, hunting and trapping techniques, muzzleloader training, pistol training, archery, dog handling, boating, and NRA hunter safety.
    Students who successfully complete the course will earn NRA hunter safety certification.
    Although the course is free, registration is required. To register or for more information, call Poore at 653-1374 after 5 p.m.
