Kent County Levy Court commissioners have scheduled a vote on a new dog control contract for Sept. 10
In a majority decision Tuesday night, members of Kent County Levy Court put up a proposed contract offer for county dog control services on their agenda for their Sept. 10 business meeting. Working in committee meetings, commissioners discussed a proposal for the county to establish its own dog control division, complete with additional county staff members and necessary equipment. The plan was proposed by Commissioner George “Jody” Sweeney. However, there was a general consensus there were too many unknown factors affecting the proposal, including there not being enough time to set up a fully functioning unit. Five commissioners, with Sweeney voting in the negative and Allan Angel abstaining, instead decided to discuss a draft contract with the Kent County SPCA at next Tuesday's session.
