Three men, including two from the Smyrna-Clayton area, were arrested Tuesday after a 911 call was made regarding a robbery in Smyrna.
Smyrna Police received a 911 call Tuesday at 1:30 p.m. from a man advising that he had just been robbed at gun point in the area of Jimmy Drive. Police responded to the scene and made contact with the man, who gave a description of two suspects that fled southbound on Route 13.
Police said Delaware State Police apprehended the two suspects in north Dover, where they were taken into custody and transported to the Smyrna Police Department. The victim advised that he had no idea who the men were and that one of them pointed a gun at him and demanded money. The man handed over cash and then the two suspects fled, police said.
Police said further investigation revealed that the alleged victim had given one of the men money to purchase Percocet pills. The man stated he had to go fill his prescription the pharmacy then just drove away.
Walter T. Fitzpatrick III, 31, of Marydel, was charged with providing a false statement to law enforcement officers and criminal mischief for damaging a camera while in the Smyrna Police Department holding cell, police said.
William R. McGuire, 25, of Clayton, and Jared C. Olin, 26, of Smyrna, were both charged with theft and third-degree conspiracy.
All three men were presented at Justice of the Peace Court 2 via videophone and released on a $2,000 unsecured bond each.
