The Delaware Breast Cancer Coalition (DBCC) is revving up for their Fourth Annual "Monster Miles for a Cause" Walk at Dover International Speedway on Saturday, October 19. The event is a unique opportunity for supporters of local charities to walk on the NASCAR track. Attendees are encouraged to walk in honor or memory of someone in their life that has been impacted by breast cancer. The DBCC walk begins at noon with registration opening at 10 am. The event will have vendors, food, and fun and team prizes.
Visit debreastcancer.org to register to walk with DBCC or to learn more about sponsorship opportunities. Invite your friends and family to form a team. The event is rain or shine and costs $25 per person or $30 on event day. Children 10 and under can walk for free with an adult. T-shirts are guaranteed for all participants pre-registered by October 1 (not including children under 10). Those who cannot attend the event but would still like to support DBCC can register online as "Sleepwalkers".
"We are so appreciative of the community's support of this event and DBCC," said Lois Wilkinson, DBCC Program Manager of Education & Survivorship in Kent County. "I would encourage everyone to consider putting a team together in honor of a loved one that is a breast cancer survivor or in memory of someone who has passed away. Think of a fun team name or theme because there will be team awards!"
All proceeds from the 2013 Delaware Breast Cancer Coalition "Monster Miles for a Cause" will benefit
DBCC's programs and services that work to increase breast cancer awareness, promote the importance of early detection, provide access to mammograms and provide support and resources to men and women in our local community who are newly diagnosed or facing a recurrence of breast cancer. The 2012 event raised over $16,000 for DBCC's local programs. For additional information, please call Michelle Marshall, DBCC Event Coordinator, at 302-593-9924 or email@example.com.
