  • Smyrna High School is celebrating Homecoming this week with a parade and the football game on Friday, and the Homecoming Dance on Saturday. This year's Homecoming Queen candidates are Lindsey Reynolds, Annalisa Trabaudo, Raven Luckett, Morgan Popovich, Taylor Daniels, and Mecca Andrews.
    The winner will be announced during half-time at the football game.
    Each candidate recently took time to talk to the Eagle Eye staff about their nominations, plans after high school and more.
    Lindsey Reynolds
    Q What is your career pathway in school? Are you taking any special classes?
    A Spanish; Latin to help me with my law interest.
    Q What are your plans after high school?
    A To go to York College for four years majoring in pre-law and go to a law school to earn a law degree.
    Q What are you most excited for this year?
    A Homecoming, Prom, SGA events.
    Q What can you improve upon in school?
    A Studying more and not procrastinating.
    Q Who is your best supporter? Why?
    A My Dad. He supports me with everything I do, and he does anything and everything to help me.
    Q If you were crowned Queen, what would your reaction be?
    A I would be so surprised because it is just an honor to be on court.
    Q What is your favorite activity during Homecoming week and why?
    A Dressing up for Spirit Week because it gets everyone in the spirit to make Homecoming fun.
    Q What went through your head when you were nominated? How did you feel?
    A I couldn't believe it. I was so happy to be on Court with all of my friends; I was very excited.
    Q Why do you think you were nominated?
    A I talk to a variety of people along with participating in various clubs and activities.
    Q What would you like the school to know about you?
    A I'm in the Student Ambassadors Committee and I absolutely love meeting new people and showing new students around.
    Annalisa Trabaudo
    Q What is your career pathway? Are you taking any special classes?
    A Medical field – bioethics/biotech, and anatomy and physiology.
    Q What are your plans after high school?
    Page 2 of 5 - A Becoming a pediatric nurse practitioner, because I love working with children.
    Q What are you most excited for this year?
    A All school events, homecoming, prom, float.
    Q What can you improve upon in school?
    A Planning ahead and not waiting until last minute to do everything.
    Q Who is your best supporter? Why?
    A My family and my boyfriend Zach support me in everything I do. They all inspire and encourage me to follow my dreams and never let me forget that I can achieve anything.
    Q If you were crowned Queen, what would your reaction be?
    A I would be super happy and so honored that my peers had chosen me.
    Q What is your favorite activity during Homecoming week and why?
    A Spirit week! Being able to dress up every day in crazy outfits is always so exciting.
    Q What went through your head when you were nominated? How did you feel?
    A When I heard my name on the announcements. I've never smiled bigger! I was so happy and honored.
    Q Why do you think you were nominated?
    A I have a special bond with a lot of people in my school, I don't judge anyone and am nice to everyone.
    Q What would you like the school to know about you?
    A I play volleyball and help coach junior volleyball league for elementary through intermediate school children. I am a member of the National Honor Society.
    Raven Luckett
    Q What is your career pathway? Are you taking any special classes?
    A Chorus and BFS.
    Q What are your plans after high school?
    A Go to college on a scholarship for track and major in Business Administration.
    Q What are you most excited for this year?
    A I am excited for my outdoor track season this year.
    Q What can you improve upon in school?
    A I can improve on not waiting to the last minute and procrastinating.
    Q Who is your best supporter? Why?
    A My mother because she helps me through anything and is always there for me without a doubt.
    Q If you were crowned Queen, what would your reaction be?
    Page 3 of 5 - A I would be so shocked and so thankful for everyone that helped put me in this position.
    Q What is your favorite activity during Homecoming week and why?
    A The parade because that's when the whole community gets together and acknowledges the people in it.
    Q What went through your head when you were nominated? How did you feel?
    A I was so excited and I wanted to know and thank everyone who voted for me. I felt so proud of myself because it's such a huge honor.
    Q Why do you think you were nominated?
    A Because I am friendly and try to make relationships with many people.
    Q What would you like the school to know about you?
    A I am a Student Ambassador, I run indoor and outdoor track, play volleyball, I'm in National Honor Society, and I'm in Blue Gold Club.
    Morgan Popovich
    Q What is your career pathway? Are you taking any special classes?
    A My pathway is human development but in college I'm planning on going into engineering.
    Q What are your plans after high school?
    A To attend college and play volleyball.
    Q What are you most excited for this year?
    A I am most excited for my senior prom, having fun with my friends our senior year and graduation.
    Q What can you improve upon in school?
    A I could improve in not procrastinating on school projects and big assignments.
    Q Who is your best supporter? Why?
    A My parents are my best supporters because they support me no matter what and they encourage me to try my hardest. Without my parents I wouldn't be successful as I am today.
    Q If you were crowned Queen, what would your reaction be?
    A I would be really happy and thankful that my peers voted for me
    Q What is your favorite activity during Homecoming week and why?
    A My favorite activity would have to be participating in spirit week because it's really fun to dress up and support SHS with my friends.
    Q What went through your head when you were nominated? How did you feel?
    A When I heard I was nominated, it was a great start to my day; it was really cool to be one of the six homecoming candidates.

    A I believe I was nominated because I am a nice person and I have positive friendships with a lot of people at SHS.
    Q What would you like the school to know about you?
    A My favorite sport is volleyball. It's such a fun sport to play; playing with my teammates and coaches is something I will really miss. Last year, through my hard work and determinations, I was ranked No. 4 in my class. I am also an officer in NHS and SGA.
    Taylor Daniels
    Q What is your career pathway? Are you taking any special classes?
    A My pathway is Human Development.
    Q What are your plans after high school?
    A Go to college to become a Nutritionist.
    Q What are you most excited for this year?
    A Prom, Homecoming, Battle of the Classes, and Graduation.
    Q What can you improve upon in school?
    A My study habits.
    Q Who is your best supporter? Why?
    A My dad because he knows what to say to make my whole day 100% better.
    Q If you were crowned Queen, what would your reaction be?
    A I would probably stand there for a few seconds to process it and then I would finally realize it and be surprised.
    Q What is your favorite activity during Homecoming week and why?
    A The parade because I love seeing everyone come together to put on a little show.
    Q What went through your head when you were nominated? How did you feel?
    A When I heard my name on the announcements, I was actually really surprised because I didn't think I would get on Homecoming Court.
    Q Why do you think you were nominated?
    A I try to be nice to everyone and always have a positive attitude and always have a positive attitude towards everything.
    Q What would you like the school to know about you?
    A I've been super involved with cheerleading my whole life.
    Mecca Andrews
    Q What is your career pathway? Are you taking any special classes?
    A Early Childhood Education.
    Q What are your plans after high school?

    A I could improve on not waiting to the last minute to do things.

    A My grandmother, because she supports me no, matter what and is always there for me.

    A I would be shocked and I might cry. I would be really thankful.
    Q What is your favorite activity during Homecoming week and why?
    A The football game and the parade. Both are really exciting.
    Q What went through your head when you were nominated? How did you feel?
    A I was surprised and excited. I didn't think I would be nominated.
    Q Why do you think you were nominated?
    A I think I was nominated because I'm a nice person and I am friendly towards others.
    Q What would you like the school to know about you?
    A I'm a part of Blue-Gold, very helpful and compassionate. Also I work hard and do my best in everything I do.
