  • Drug raid leads to arrest of Smyrna man

  • A two-month investigation into the sale of illegal drugs by the Smyrna Police Department has led to the arrest of a Smyrna man.
    The Smyrna Police Department and Special Tactics and Response Team executed a search warrant on Tuesday at 6:30 a.m. in the 300 block of Eagle Way in Smyrna. Police said during the search, police seized approximately 1.2 pounds of suspected marijuana, prescription pills, drug paraphernalia and more than $2,000 in cash.
    Police said Michael D. Hughes, 18, was charged with possession with intent to deliver marijuana, possession of a tier 1 quantity of marijuana, two counts of possession of non-controlled prescription drugs, possession of controlled prescription drugs, three counts of endangering the welfare of a child, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
    Hughes was presented at Justice of the Peace Court 2 via videophone and later released after posting a $7,500 secured bond.
