  • Smyrna Police drug raid leads to arrest of five suspects

  • Five suspects were arrested Monday by Smyrna Police following an investigation into illegal drug activity.
    The Smyrna Police Department, with the assistance of the Drug Enforcement Administration, Delaware State Police, Clayton Police, Dover Police, Delaware Division of Alcohol & Tobacco Enforcement and Kent County Paramedics, executed a search warrant Monday at approximately 4:30 p.m. in the 400 block of West North Street in Smyrna.
    Police said during the search, officers recovered roughly 726 grams of suspected marijuana, suspected cocaine, numerous prescription pills, a handgun and United States Currency. All subjects were transported to the Smyrna Police Department where they were processed and presented at the Justice of the Peace Court 7 via videophone, police said.
    Joseph F. Pierce, 52, of the 400 block of West North Street in Smyrna, was charged with possession of cocaine, possession of Percocet, possession of Alprazolam, possession of Buprenorphine, possession of marijuana, two counts of possession of a prescription drug without a prescription, possession of drug paraphernalia, second-degree conspiracy, maintaining a drug property and possession of a deadly weapon by a person prohibited. Pierce was committed to the James T. Vaughn Correctional Center in default of a $82,400 secured bond.
    Shirley E. Pierce, 50, also of the 400 block of West North Street in Smyrna, was charged with possession of cocaine, possession of Percocet, possession of Alprazolam, possession of Buprenorphine, possession of marijuana, two counts possession of a prescription drug without a prescription, possession of drug paraphernalia, second-degree conspiracy, and maintaining a drug property. She was committed to the Baylor's Women's Correctional Center in default of a $7,750 secured bond.
    Scott D. Jurney, 23, of the 300 block of North Main Street in Smyrna, was charged with possession of cocaine, possession of Percocet, possession of Alprazolam, possession of Buprenorphine, possession of marijuana, two counts of possession of a prescription drug without a prescription, possession of drug paraphernalia, and second-degree conspiracy. He was committed to the James T. Vaughn Correctional Center in default of a $30,300 secured bond.
    Curtis L. Turner Jr., 25, of St. Georges, was charged with possession of cocaine, possession of Percocet, possession of Alprazolam, possession of Burprenorphine, possession of marijuana, two counts of possession of a prescription drug without a prescription, possession of drug paraphernalia, and second-degree conspiracy. He was released after posting a $18,300 secured bond.
    Shannon Johnson, 20, of Providence Drive in Smyrna, was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of marijuana. He was released after posting a $300 secured bond.
