Smyrna Police arrested a Milford man Dec. 4 on drug charges following a traffic stop.
On Dec. 4 at approximately 12:08 a.m. a Smyrna Police officer stopped a vehicle on South DuPont Highway at South Carter Road for displaying a fictitious tag.
After making contact with the driver, police determined that the vehicle was not registered and conducted an inventory search prior to it being towed. During the search, police recovered approximately 24.4 grams of suspected marijuana.
Police said Anthony E. Penawell, 19, of the unit block of Delaware Avenue in Milford was charged with possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, third-degree conspiracy, and numerous traffic charges.
Penawell was presented at Justice of the Peace Court 7 via videophone and was released on $1,800 unsecured bond.
Police said a 17-year-old passenger was charged with possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, third-degree conspiracy, and released to his mother pending a later court appearance.
