  • The Smyrna High School wrestling team jumped out to a 27-0 lead and cruised to a 60-10 victory over St. Georges Tech in the Eagles' home opener Wednesday night.

  • The Smyrna High School wrestling team jumped out to a 27-0 lead and cruised to a 60-10 victory over St. Georges Tech in the Eagles' home opener Wednesday night.
    St. Georges was coming off of an impressive second-place finish at the Milford Invitational, but the Eagles were in control of the match from the start and ran away with the victory.
    Here are the results in each weight class for Smyrna in the match, which started at 126 pounds:
    126 Othniel Edmond won by decision over J. Chilson, 7-1.
    132 Tyler Carney won by pin over A. Walker, 5:11.
    138 Austin Flowers won by pin over T. Immediato, 1:10.
    145 Kalen Wilson won by desicion over Susi, 4-2.
    152 Elijah Hutchinson won by pin over King, 1:27.
    160 Joshua Hutchinson won by decision over Tharp, 10-8.
    170 Ronnie Wuest lost by major decision to Albanese, 6-14.
    182 Michael Rocco lost by pin to Hladney, 1:40.
    195 Marquelle Bennett won by pin over Brooks, 1:35.

    NEXT MATCHES
    The Eagles are scheduled to compete at the Beast of the East Tournament at the University of Delaware Dec. 21 and 22, and then at the Tiger Classic at A.I. duPont High School Dec. 27 and 28.
    The next dual meets are Saturday, Jan. 4 at 1 p.m. at McDonogh, Md., and Wednesday, Jan. 8 at home against Dover at 7 p.m.
