  • Three men mugged a pizza delivery driver in Middletown on Friday night, making off with his cell phone, his car keys and an order of food, according to police.
The 40-year-old driver told police he had attempted to deliver an order to Building 1870 of the Congressional Village Condominiums off Cedar Lane Road about 10:45 p.m., but no one came to door.
The driver reported that he was approached by three men while he was getting back into his car.
One of the men demanded that he turn over the food and his money, while a second man attempted to enter the vehicle through the passenger door, only to find it locked, according to Middletown Police Chief Henry Tobin III.
The driver then handed over the food, at which point the first man demanded his keys.
The two robbers then fled, but the third man stayed behind and took the driver's cell phone before fleeing.
The driver was not harmed and no money was taken, Tobin said.
The driver's car keys were later found a short distance from where the robbery occurred.
Police did not identify the pizza shop where the driver works.
The robber who took the food and driver's car keys is described as being black, between 5'8" and 5'10" and about 200 pounds. He last was seen wearing a black skull cap and a black jacket.
The second robber is described as being black with a thin build, between 6'1" and 6'2" and about 170 pounds. He last was seen wearing a black jacket and dark-colored pants.
The robber who made off with the driver's cell phone is described as being multi-racial, between 5'8" and 5'10" and about 160 pounds. He last was seen wearing a gray jacket.
Anyone with information about the incident or the identity of the robbers is asked to call the Middletown Police Department at 376-9950.
