Dear Citizens of Smyrna,
There's a frosty nip in the air and sleigh bells are jingling! That means its holiday time in beautiful Smyrna!
As you begin your holiday shopping please remember to patronize our local businesses. Why fight the crowds at the shopping malls when we have everything on your list right here in Smyrna? Jewelry and precious gems? Yes! Fashionable clothing and accessories? Sure! Home furnishings and décor? You bet! Sporting goods? Of course! And after a long day of shopping, why not relax and have a bite in one of our fine restaurants or take in a show at the Smyrna Opera House? In Smyrna, we have great gifts, tasty fare, and show-stopping entertainment!
As you gather together with friends and family please take a moment to remember our military service members and their families who are spending the holidays away from one another. Keep them in your thoughts and prayers. Also, please remember our senior citizens who may not have family or friends to visit with during the holidays. If you have the means, offer them a small gift or a plate from your holiday dinner. I'm certain they will appreciate the kind gesture.
Finally, I am pleased to submit my second quarterly report to the citizens of Smyrna. The report, covering the period August 2013 to November 2013, highlights the various activities and initiatives undertaken by the town. The report features updates from town departments including the Town Manager's Office, Public Works, Accounting and Business Services, Building and Inspections, Planning and Zoning, Police, and the Library. Here is the link to the report:
On behalf of the entire Smyrna Town Council and all town employees, we wish you a very happy holiday season!
