  • Peace Lutheran Church in Smyrna to hold Evening of Liberia, asking for donations of sewing machines, computers

  • Peace Lutheran Church in Smyrna will host "An Evening of Liberia" on Wednesday, Feb. 26 from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at the church. The church is asking for donations of old computers and sewing machines which will be given to Liberians for Prosperity.

  • Peace Lutheran Church in Smyrna will host "An Evening of Liberia" on Wednesday, Feb. 26 from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at the church. Peace Lutheran is located at 5048 Wheatley's Pond Rd. (Route 300), between the Kent County Paramedics station and the Walmart distribution center.
    The event will be a presentation celebrating Liberia and its interesting history.
    The church is asking for donations of old computers and sewing machines which will be given to Liberians for Prosperity. The congregation will be sending the computers to Liberia for instruction in basic computer skills to "Woman of Change" and local youth groups. The sewing machines will be used by "Woman of Change" to allow for independent employment.
    Thrivent Financial for Lutherans is providing some funds toward the shipment of these item.
    Come and learn about the home country of many of our community members.
    The event is free. Refreshments will be served.
