An 83-year-old Clayton man accidently drove his car into the Rite Aid on Glenwood Avenue on Saturday afternoon.

At 3:30 p.m. the man was attempting to back out of a parking spot and observed another vehicle. Smyrna Police Interim Chief Norman Wood said the man then pulled forward and stepped on the brake and accelerator at the same time, which launched his vehicle forward over the curb stop and struck the building. The building was evacuated to be checked for structural integrity.

No injuries were reported. The man wasn’t cited for the incident, police said.
