She worked as a nurse's aide for 18 years for the Delaware Hospital for the Chronically Ill in Smyrna and for seven years as a cashier for the Smyrna School District. Prior to that, she worked as a burner for the Dravo Shipyard in Wilmington during World War II.

Marjorie E. Neal of Clayton, DE, passed away on Friday, March 28, 2014 at Kent General Hospital in Dover, DE. She was 92.

Mrs. Neal was born February 16, 1922 in Galena, MD, the daughter of the late George Haley and Carrie Everett Haley.

She worked as a Nurse’s Aide for 18 years for DHCI in Smyrna, DE and for 7 years as a Cashier for the Smyrna School District. Prior to that, she worked as a Burner for the Dravo Shipyard in Wilmington, DE during WWII.

Marjorie enjoyed traveling, camping, and spending winters in Florida. She was a member of Asbury United Methodist Church in Smyrna where she was an active member of the Harvey’s Club.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Donald G. Neal; a grandson, Robert J. Neal; three brothers, Merritt, Russell, and George Haley; and two sisters, Vivian Scott and Joan Dittman.

She is survived by her loving husband, Alan; two sons, Jerry Neal and his wife Sharon of Smyrna, and Bob Neal of Clayton; three grandchildren, Donna Neal Gregory, Robyn Neal Hall, and Greg Alan Neal; and eight great grandchildren.

A visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 1, 2014 at 10 a.m. in the Faries Funeral Chapel, located at 29 S. Main Street in Smyrna. Funeral services will begin at 11 a.m.

Burial will be held in Crumpton Cemetery in Crumpton, MD.
