  • Smyrna staff to do hydrant flushing in two weeks

    • email print
  • The Town of Smyrna Water Department personnel will be doing hydrant flushing later this month.
The process requires town staff to do flushing and flow testing to the fire hydrants. The testing will be done on April 22, April 23 and April 24 between the  hours of 7 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.
In the case of inclement weather, the flushing will be postponed until April 29, April 30 and May 1.
Hydrant flushing is necessary to purge the town's water system and to provide quality water to our residents.
Residents and water customers are advised of the situation because a muddy/rusty water situation may occur shortly after this process is complete. If this does occur, simply open water faucets and/or run the dishwasher or washing machine empty through one cycle to purge the system of discolored water.
