  • The Smyrna-Clayton Veterans Monument Committee is sponsoring a trip to the “8th & I Evening Parade” at the Marine Barracks in Washington, D.C. on Friday, June 20.
    This is a fundraiser for new lighting for the monument in Smyrna at George C. Wright Jr. Municipal Park on North Main Street.
    The bus will depart from the Smyrna Rest Area on Route 13 at 3:30 p.m., and will stop for dinner at Old County Buffet. (The cost of dinner is not included.)
    The evening parade will feature the President’s Own Marine Band, the Marine Drum & Bugle Corps, and the Silent Drill Platoon.
    Cost of the bus trip is $25 which includes a $5 donation to the Smyrna-Clayton Veterans Monument. The bus is equipped with restroom facilities.
