  • Smyrna Police arrest teen on attempted burglary charges

  • Smyrna Police arrested a 16-year-old male early Friday morning on attempted burglary charges following a report of a subject attempting to enter vehicles in town.
    On Friday, May 2 at about 1:15 a.m. Smyrna Police received a report of a subject allegedly attempting to enter vehicles. Police said the subject gained access to a vehicle and was looking through it in the 300 block of West Commerce Street.
    As officers observed the subject near a vehicle and attempted to make contact with him but he ran towards West South Street. Police said officers apprehend a 16-year-old male at the rear of his residence. There were several items on his person that did not belong to the him.
    The juvenile was charged with third-degree attempted burglary, attempted theft, resisting arrest, criminal mischief and underage consumption of alcohol. He was presented at Justice of the Peace Court 7, where he was released to his mother on an unsecured bond pending a later court appearance.
    Anyone in the area of the 300 block of West Commerce Street, who has items missing from their vehicle on today’s date, is asked to contact the Smyrna Police.
