  • Smyrna Police to offer junior academy this summer

  • This summer the Smyrna Police Department will offer the Junior Police Academy again. If your child is interested in law enforcement this program is for them.
    The academy will be July 7 through July 10 and July 14 through July 17 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Smyrna High School. The program is free.
    The students will receive lunch and supplies needed. There will be teamwork exercises, confidence building exercises, and physical endurance training. The students will get to learn about life as a police officer and the specialized units that are offered in police work.
    To participate, students must be in grades fifth through eighth, complete the application, have an updated physical and doctor permission, and transportation to and from the high school
    Applications can be picked up from Smyrna Middle School, John Bassett Moore Intermediate School or the Smyrna Police Department. Applications are due by Saturday, May 31.
