  • In anticipation of Independence Day, the Delaware Department of Transportation has released information on local fireworks displays and travel information.
    At approximately 9:25 p.m., a fireworks display will take place over the Delaware Legislative Hall in Dover. Motorists can expect delays downtown.
    The Rehoboth Beach Main Street Fireworks will take place at approximately 9:15 p.m. at the beach. For easy transportation, the Jolly Trolley and DART buses will run from 8 a.m. July 4 until 2 a.m. July 5.
    Bethany Beach will have fireworks after dusk that will be available for view almost anywhere from the beach and boardwalk. Motorists can expect delays on Route 1 and the Town of Bethany Beach after dusk.
    Additionally, the Delaware Department of Transportation will suspend planned lane closures on Route 1, Interstate 95 and U.S. Route 202 from 6 a.m. July 3 until July 7.
    Travelers may stop at the Smyrna Rest Area at Exit 119 on Route 1.
