  • There won't be a Fourth of July Parade in the Smyrna-Clayton area this year, and the fireworks display has been moved to July 5.
    The Smyrna-Clayton July 4th Association made the announcement this evening because of the forecast for rain on Friday, as Hurricane Arthur stirs off the East Coast.
    The Fourth of July parade in Clayton has been canceled.
    The dog contest, concerts, and demonstrations planned on Friday, July 4 at George C. Wright Jr. Municipal Park in Smyrna have also been canceled.
    The fireworks event has been moved to Saturday, July 5 at dusk. The fireworks will be set off from the Little League Park on Duck Creek Parkway, with prime viewing areas at Smyrna High School and Smyrna Middle School.
    The Stine Amusement Shows Carnival will continue at the Municipal Park in Smyrna July 4 and 5. Scheduled hours are from 11:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. on July 4 and from 6 to 10 p.m. on July 5.
