Two local men have been arrested after they allegedly assaulted an acquaintance and stole cash from his paycheck.
Two men, identified as Leroy Harris, 31, and David Donnelly, 28, have been arrested after they allegedly stole money after an acquaintance cashed his paycheck.
The incident took place July 14, said Dover Police Department spokesman Lt. David Spicer.
The victim, a 28-year-old man, asked Harris and Donnelly for a ride to cash the paycheck; once they returned to their neighborhood, Harris allegedly punched the man, took his cash, and he and Donnelly fled northbound on Del. Route 1, Spicer said.
An officer from the Smyrna Police Department spotted the pair after picking up on a broadcast to neighboring police agencies and arrested both men without incident.
Donnelly, of the 2300 block of Woodyard Road, Harrington, was charged with second-degree robbery and second-degree conspiracy. He was ordered held at the James T. Vaughn Correctional Center, Smyrna, in default of a $5,000 secured bond.
Harris, of the 100 block of Woodville Drive, Magnolia, also was charged with second-degree robbery and second-degree conspiracy, as well as a third charge of offensive touching. He was jailed at the Vaughn center, in lieu of a $5,500 secured bond.
