  • Clayton Police arrest two men for attempting to steal from military academy property

  • Clayton Police arrested a Smyrna man and Clayton man on July 31 for allegedly attempting to steal from the First State Military Academy property in Clayton.
    On July 31 at approximately 11:30 p.m. A Clayton Police officer was conducting a property check at the First State Military Academy located at 355 West Duck Creek Road in Clayton. Police said upon checking the property the officer witnessed a black Lincoln Navigator with a trailer traveling behind one of the buildings located on the property.
    Police said the officer stopped the vehicle and made contact with the driver and passenger. While speaking to the individuals, the officer noticed wire cutters and other tools lying in the front of the vehicle. Upon checking the area behind the building where the subjects were, police said the officer noticed an A/C unit that was partially disassembled with freshly cut wires on the unit.
    Police said Chade S. Cintron, 32, of W. Glenwood Avenue in Smyrna, and Robert E. Coburn III, 31, of the 2000 block of Longridge Road in Clayton, were both charged with possession of burglar tools, attempted theft, second-degree conspiracy, criminal mischief, and third-degree criminal trespass. Both subjects were released on $8,250 unsecured bond.
