  • The Kent County Registrar of Wills has announced the office will extend its operating hours beginning Sept. 3.
The office will be open until 7:30 p.m. the first Wednesday of each month, said Registrar of Wills Harold K. Brode. The office still will open at 8 a.m. on those days, and otherwise will continue to close at 4:30 p.m., Brode added.
Although the initial rollout of extended hours is on a trial basis, Brode fully anticipates a favorable response from the public.
“This will be a great benefit to any citizen who’s responsible for overseeing the oftentimes monumental task of handling the affairs of their loved ones estate” Brode said.
“Our staff is dedicated to assisting the public during their trying times,” Brode said. “We sincerely feel that offering extended hours helps people accomplish the required paperwork and eases the stress and frustration, which may sometimes seem  overwhelming, during the grieving process.”
