The Smyrna Opera House will host its largest fundraising event of the year this Saturday, Feb. 11 – the 13th Annual Arts Cotillion – at the Opera House, 7 W. South St., from 6 p.m. to midnight.
This year’s theme is “Boots & Bling,” and guests are encouraged to dress in country-western outfits.
The party will feature dancing with live music by the band “On the Edge.” The group was formed in 1984 and quickly became the Eastern Shore's favorite dance band. Their schedule also takes them up and down the East Coast.
“On the Edge” is popular for high-energy performances of a wide variety of pop hits from 1960s Motown to modern tunes and everything in between.
The band's current lineup includes Clarence "Smitty" Smith, the original lead vocalist; Edgar Fernandez on keyboards, bass and vocals; Brad Kimes on drums; Mike Nelson on guitar and vocals; Tina Rouse on vocals, and Dave Brown on bass and vocals, with part-time members Dave Strauss, John Bell, Everett Spells, Charles Lewis and Jim Miller.
The Cotillion will also include hearty hors d’oeuvres, an open bar, a live auction, a “wine pull” raffle and a raffle to win a trip to Puerto Rico.
Another special feature included in the ticket price is the 2nd annual “Taste of Smyrna” with delicious dishes to sample from Trevi Ristorante, Bridgeway Family Restaurant, Main Street Market, Kenton Country Store, Drunk'n Baker, Pat's Select Pizza Grill and Wolfie's Bar & Grille.
Tickets are $100 per person. For information, call (302) 653-4236 or see the website, www.smyrnaoperahouse.org.
