The Middletown High School Theatre Program will present “Shrek the Musical” in March with activities for children.

The play, “Shrek,” has been an animated movie and a book. It’s about an ogre named Shrek, who finds his swamp overrun by fairy tale creatures who have been banished there by order of the evil Lord Farquaad.

To get his swamp back, Shrek makes a deal with Farquaad to bring him a queen in exchange for the deed for his swamp. Shrek sets out with a donkey and rescues Princess Fiona. He starts to fall in love with her.

Besides the musical, the event also will feature a Fairytale Swamp Fest which will include arts, crafts, snacks, and character visits. The swamp fest is March 3 and March 10 after the matinee.
