Proceeds from the sale of carnival tickets will help raise money for the Smyrna-Clayton Fourth of July parade, festivities and fireworks.

The Smyrna-Clayton July 4th Foundation is sponsoring the Houghton Amusements Carnival at Willis Chevrolet Buick from Tuesday, April 24 to Saturday, April 28, as one of the events celebrating the 250th anniversary of the founding of the Town of Smyrna.

Hours will be 6-10 p.m. Tuesday through Friday and 3-10 p.m. on Saturday.

Customers can buy a $25 unlimited ride bracelet good for one night Tuesday through Saturday. Discount coupons for $2 off the bracelets will be available at many local merchants.

Houghton Amusements is also offering a $50 megaband which will allow the customer unlimited rides during the entire carnival from Tuesday through Saturday. Megabands may be purchased in advance online at www.jimhoughtonenterprises.com or by calling Joanne Masten at 653-6235.

This year’s July 4th celebration will be a combined celebration of American independence and the 250th anniversary of the founding of the Town of Smyrna. The celebration will include a gigantic parade in the morning, followed by a carnival, free video games, food and activities in the George Wright Municipal Park and Smyrna and Clayton’s spectacular fireworks display at dusk.
