The Brandywine Friends of Old Time Music will present a concert of traditional American music with "Big Medicine" Friday, March 12 at 8 p.m., at the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship Hall, 420 Willa Road, Newark.
Big Medicine, consisting of Kenny Jackson, Jim Collier, Joe Newberry, and Bobb
Head, plays string band music of the rural South: old-time melodies and mountain
harmonies, ancient ballads and archaic fiddle tunes, heart songs, hollers, hymns,
and a touch of early bluegrass.
The music has remarkable power, nuance, and timeless appeal -- a balm for the modern maladies of the soul.
Tickets at the door only are $17 for adults 18 & up, $14 for ages 62 & over, $12 for members of The Brandywine Friends of Old Time Music, and free for ages 17 & under.
