As Smyrna native Chuck Wicks tours the country with Brad Paisley’s “The Paisley Party” Tour, he will sing in places like Dallas, Kansas City, and Louisville.
On August 30, he will make a take the stage in Camden, N.J., his closest stop to Smyrna on a 42-date tour that also features Jewel and Julianne Hough.
The rain or shine show will be held at Camden’s Susquehanna Bank Center (formerly the Tweeter Center) at 7:30 p.m.
Jordan Bark, 16, of Smyrna, who has seen Chuck perform twice and plans to attend the Camden concert, said he is a great performer.
“He really gets the audience going. He’s really entertaining,” she said. “Between songs he talks to the audience. When he sings, he’s always going up and shaking peoples hands. He even goes up and sings to people sometimes.”
Fans can expect to hear “Stealing Cinderella,” the fastest rising single from a debut artist in 2007, and “All I Ever Wanted,” from his debut album “Starting Now,” released in January.
Although Chuck, performs a short set list of about five songs, fans can expect to find him at the merchandise table after the show.
“He almost always signs autographs after every show,” Bark said. “He’s such a sweet guy and he tries to give so much back to his fans.”
Unless, he has to board his tour bus immediately to head to the next venue, “He always wants to be there signing, and he will sign until the line is gone,” said Taryn Pray, media coordinator for Sony BMG.
Pray said when she saw Chuck perform “he had everybody standing.”
“He’s an energetic performer,” she said. “He’s really interactive with the audience. He’s a lot of fun to watch.”
Bark said she became a fan of Chuck when he was on FOX’s reality TV show “Nashville,” which was cancelled after two episodes.
“I started watching ‘Nashville’ and added him on MySpace and listened to his music,” Bark said. “When I saw him on ‘Nashville,’ I became an instant fan. I was bummed after the show was cancelled. Overall he has the whole package — looks, personality, talent. I see a lot of success for him down the road.”
Bark, who started a hometown fan site for Wicks on MySpace, has met the rising country star in March, and again in June, even visiting him once on his tour bus.
