The Clayton Fire Company is planning a hot night of comedy and dancing on Saturday, March 27 at the fire hall. Three professional stand-up comedians will be the featured entertainment. The evening also includes a delicious light buffet before the show, and then dancing afterwards. Tickets are just $20 each. A cash bar will be available.

National headliner Coleman Green

The featured performer will be popular Philadelphia comic Coleman Green, one of the biggest stars in the business – literally. He jokes that instead of a social security number, the federal government has given him his own zip code!

As a national touring act, Coleman has headlined shows from coast to coast with comedy powerhouses like D.L. Hughley. He was also one of the featured entertainers at Laffapalooza, the Urban International Comedy Festival, where he was recognized as one of the hottest new talents in the country.

Coleman’s act is meant for mature audiences, so the show is recommended for adults only.

The hilarious Mary Ann Nichols

Mary Anne Nichols bills herself as “The National Poster Girl for Menopause.” Her non-stop, irreverent comedy has packed the house at comedy clubs such as Funny Bones, The Improv, and Caroline’s.

Nichols won national acclaim as a finalist on “Star Search II” and she’s opened for entertainment legends like The Temptations and Bobby Vinton.

Laugh with Lazee Lamont

“Lazee” Lamont King has appeared on television on Comedy Central and BET, in addition to comedy clubs across the country. His cynical, nonchalant demeanor has made him a favorite with audiences from coast to coast.

For a good cause

Proceeds from the comedy show will benefit the Clayton Fire Company.

“We’ll be using the money primarily for training and equipment so we can serve and protect our community to the best of our ability,” said Jay Hurlock, the director of fundrasing for the fire company and a member of the Board of Directors.

Hurlock estimated that the cost of equipping one firefighter, including the breathing mask and tank, is between $3,000 and $3,500.

“Our budget has been cut, so we’re always looking for new ways to raise money,” said Hurlock. “This show should be a lot of fun with some national acts coming to Clayton, so hopefully we’ll sell a lot of tickets.”
