The Smyrna-Clayton Rotary Club’s popular Car Show and Rod Run will be held in downtown Smyrna on Saturday, May 9 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., open to the public without charge. Now in its 10th year, the show will be staged on Market Street, featuring a DJ, food vendors, door prizes, and more. Last year’s show featured over 140 cars.
Downtown merchants will also be holding a sidewalk sale, weather permitting. Many shops and restaurants will offer special sales during the show.
All makes and models – antique, custom, late years, trucks, and tractors, too – are welcome.

Registration the day of the show runs from 9 a.m. to noon. The first 125 vehicles receive dash plaques and “goody bags.”
Thirty-five sponsor trophies will be presented including a people’s choice award at 2:30 p.m.

This event raises funds for the Smyrna-Clayton Rotary Club which was founded on May 6, 1927. The club sponsors numerous community projects including Adopt-a Highway Cleanup, a project which provides dictionaries to every third grade student in Kent County, a Bingo program for patients at the Delaware Hospital for the Chronically Ill, college scholarships, as well as sponsorships of a Boy Scout troop and Little League team.
The club meets at the Wayside Inn, 103 North DuPont Highway at Mt. Vernon Street in Smyrna, each Thursday morning at 7:15 a.m.
