Rehearsals are held every Thursday evening for the new "Smyrna Singers" group at the Smyrna Opera House for adults and youth ages 12 and up.

The Smyrna Singers, a brand new community chorus sponsored by the Smyrna Opera House, began rehearsals on Sept. 14.

The group will practice each Thursday (except holidays) from 7-8:30 p.m. in the Opera House auditorium. The first concert will be at the Smyrna Opera House on Saturday, Dec. 9.

Andrea Stewart Davis, a graduate of Smyrna High School and the University of Delaware, will direct the Smyrna Singers, with Kathy Castro as accompanist. Davis is the choir director at Easton High School in Maryland, and Castro is retired from the Smyrna School District where she most recently was the principal of Sunnyside Elementary School.

Adults and youth ages 12 and up are welcome. Previous chorale experience is preferred, but not required.

There will be a $20 fee which will include a one-year membership to the Smyrna Opera House. Members receive a discount on most Opera House tickets.
