The Delaware Organization of Nurse Leaders will be opening the Delaware Chapter of Nurses House.
The new nonprofit foundation will provide assistance with medical bills, utility payments and other temporary support for nurses in need because of a medical issue or emergency.
To qualify for assistance, nurses must complete a comprehensive application documenting an illness and financial need.

Nurses House began in western New York State in 1922 when philanthropist Emily Bourne left $300,000 in her will to provide a house for up to 60 ailing nurses to receive respite care.
