The Smyrna Downtown Renaissance Association will host the Sixth Annual Firefly 5K Run/Walk on Wednesday, May 26 at 7 p.m. with registration beginning at 6 p.m. at the Smyrna Health and Wellness Center, 100 S. Main Street.
Free blood pressure screenings performed by Christina Care will be available starting at 5 p.m.
The event benefits the Smyrna Police Athletic League and is sponsored by Christina Care Health System, as well as other generous businesses within the Smyrna community.
Folks of all ages are encouraged to participate as a runner or a walker, whether they are beginners or experienced competitors. A Kiddie Fun Run will begin at 6:55 p.m. for children eight years old and under to run or walk a few yards for fun.
At 7 p.m., the 5K Run/Walk will start and end at the Health and Wellness Center located at 100 S. Main Street.
The race coordinator is Gary Stulir and timing services will be provided by M.O.T. Running Company.
The race course is flat and fast, taking you through downtown Smyrna and its scenic historic district.
CJ’s Bar and Grill will provide post-race food and refreshments.
Awards for overall 5K male and female winners and top three male and female runners in each age group – 14 & under, 15-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60 & over. Walker awards will be presented to the top three finishers. In addition, ribbons will be awarded to all Kiddie Fun Run finishers.
