The 13th JBM/SHS Alumni Association Banquet will be held on Saturday, March 27 at Smyrna High School. This year marks the 100th anniversary of the first airplane designed, built and flown in Delaware. The historic event will be celebrated with an art competition sponsored by the Delaware Aviation Hall of Fame (DAHF). Cash prizes will be awarded for original concepts of the Delaplane in two categories: two-dimensional painting and drawing, and three-dimensional models and sculpture in any medium. The grand prize is $1,000.
The entry deadline is Friday, March 26 for the Miss July 4th Pageant, sponsored by the Smyrna-Clayton July 4th Association. New this year will be a Mr. Uncle Sam contest open to boys and young men, ages 4-20.
Beginning this Sunday, March 7, Ewell's-St. Paul United Methodist Church in Clayton is moving its traditional worship service from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m., and adding a new contemporary Praise and Alleluia service at 8:30 a.m. Sunday school will be held at 10 a.m. If you sing, play guitar, bass, keyboards, or drums, and are interested in being a part of a newly forming praise team, please call Pastor Kris Schonewolf at 302-653-7280.
