Event at Wright Municipal Park (Smyrna Municipal Park) on North Main Street being held in memory of Smyrna's Diane Guy-Williams who died of pancreatic cancer
The family of Diane Guy-Williams of Smyrna is hosting a Pancreatic Cancer Awareness Walk this Saturday, Aug. 5 to raise funds for the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network.
Diane died of pancreatic cancer Sept. 30, 2016 at the age of 57.
The walk will be held at George C. Wright Jr. Municipal Park (Smyrna Municipal Park) on North Main Street.
Registration starts at 8 a.m., and the walk begins at 9 a.m. The route will go from the park to the trails around Smyrna High School and back again.
Participants are encouraged to wear purple which is the symbol for fighting pancreatic cancer.

A nurse and fitness trainer will be on site for the walk.
The event will also include a 50/50 raffle and giveaways, and Pit Daddy's BBQ providing light food and refreshments for a nominal fee.
A portion of the funds will be used to support the mission of the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network for research, supporting patients, raising awareness and creating hope.
