The Smyrna Police congratulated graduates of the Junior Police Academy for ages 12-15 at the ceremony July 24 at the National Guard’s Smyrna Readiness Center.

The program was held from July 13-24 at John Bassett Moore Intermediate School with field trips to the State Police Academy, the State Firearms Training Center, and State Bureau of Identification.

Special awards were presented to Luke McGrath as Best Overal Cadet and Damian DeRohn as Most Improved Cadet.

Graduates included Charles Deery, Brandon Quail, Erica Wharff, Peter Berrios, Jessejames Hutchison, Cameron Salge, Kayla Rea, Bradley Biddle, Leon Staley III, John Barkley Jr., Dario Anderson, Brittany Klase, Christopher Fox, Charlie Mitchell, Gregory Quail, Carrisa Anderson, Joseph Perna, Dylan Wilson, Jordon Ford, Autumn Fisher, Damian DeRohn, and Luke McGrath.

Leading the program were and Smyrna Police Corporal Torrie James and Senior Patrolman First Class Amber McKinery, with help from officer Brandon Dunning.

Those who assisted with the program included Smyrna Police officer William Duncan, Clayton Police officer Harvey Scott, the Delaware Army National Guard and Staff Sergeant Chris Tomlinson, Division of Parks & Recreation Corporal Brian McKinery, and Brian Schad from the State Fire Marshal’s Office.
