The Alzheimer’s Association Delaware Valley Chapter offers a variety of ongoing training and educational programs right here in Smryna, providing professional caregivers with specialized knowledge and skills to deliver a higher quality of care.
On Wednesday, July 1, the association will sponsor "Behaviors: Exploring Creative Solutions." The seven-hour program is designed to promote discussion and increased understanding of the potential causes and triggers for challenging behaviors in dementia care settings while providing professional direct care staff with techniques for creating a therapeutic environment through effective behavior management, improved communication with clients and families, and a supportive, cohesive care team.
The training will be held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Alzheimer’s Association Julie H.C. Bailey Training Center, 100 S. Main Street, Suite 211, Smyrna, in the Smyrna Health & Wellness Center across from the Smyrna Public Library and Opera House.
This interactive program includes the following modules: "Understanding Challenging Symptoms," "Developing Effective Daily Routines," "Therapeutic Interventions," and "A Team Approach to Care," "Activities to Increase Learning Acquisition."
The course will include a certificate of completion, comprehensive reference manual, CEUs for Social Workers, and a continental breakfast and light lunch.
