Shades of Sadie Hawkins! Gals on loose again

A Sadie Hawkins Dungaree Dance is planned by the Silver Eagles, to be held Saturday, January 23 from 8 to 11:30 p.m. This gives the girls an opportunity to ask the boys to go to the dance and pay for their entertainment for that evening.

Barry Pritchard, president, has announced that the Silver Eagles’ Valentine dance will be held on Saturday, February 13 from 8 to 11:30 p.m., with regular admission prices. The dance will be a dressy affair and the music will be furnished by the popular dance band The Fabulous Corvettes.

The following committees were appointed by the president to plan for the Valentine dance: Richard David, Nicholas Rosello, publicity; Bruce Ennis, Charles Mast, Tom Mills, and Eric Neidhardt, decorations….

Eagles (2-2) face tough Lewes 5; alumni attraction carded Tuesday

Lewes’ highly-publicized Pirates sail into town tomorrow night for a clash with Smyrna’s basketball Eagles. The down-staters, a perennial court power, again feature a strong array in the person of 6-foot-7 Lenny Maul, football star John Morris, and company.

Smyrna athletic officials anticipate a near capacity house for the Lewes attraction, mainly to see the high-scoring antics of the lanky Maull, tallest player in the state.

Local court fans will also be treated to the annual alumni battle next Tuesday evening in the high school field house. This contest, always a favorite on the Smyrna schedule, will display such former Eagle standouts as Lenny Pleasanton, Sam Jacobs, Phil Voshell, Bill Shane, Lin Doughten, Karl Gebhart, Edgar Cox, Donald Poore, Jay Knight, Turk Orvis, and others.

Opposing the “old pros” will be the 1960 Eagle aggregation of Joe Walker, Bob Eckhart, Wayne Cole, Jim Fischer, Harold Moffitt, Chappy Lucas, Barry Pritchard, Brandy Jones, Bob Boyer, Newlin Wood, Dave Passmore, Corrado Melega.
