Senior Girl, Boy Awarded Watches from Sayers
Once again the clock in the window has ticked away the minutes at Sayers Jewelers and once more two seniors have been the happy winners of Bulova wrist watches when the hands stopped on heir names.
Members of the senior class at John Bassett Moore High School, 66 in number, had their names placed on segments of a large circle forming the artificial face of a clock, the boys in the outer yellow circle, the girls in an inner blue circle. They have watched eagerly and during Monday night the clock stopped and the lucky winners were Edna Seward and Michael Jankowiak.
This the ninth consecutive year that Sayers Jewelers have conducted the project and each graduate was allowed to choose an hour on the face of the clock and sign his or her name there. The clock was started by Doris Slover.

Legion Carnival Closes Saturday
Only three days remain for the American Legion Carnival now in progress at the intersection of Glenwood Avenue and Union Street. The colorful tents and amusements were set up on the carnival grounds last weekend in preparation for the one-week stand here. The activity, sponsored locally by the David C. Harrison Post No. 14, is presented by the well-known Virginia Greater Shows, one of the largest raveling organizations of its kind on the Eastern Shore.
A special program has been arranged for the big Memorial Day weekend approaching. The carnival midway will open for a gala matinee performance on Saturday, closing its 1959 shows, games of skill, and 12 exciting rides are featured. Four special rides reserved for the small-fry also are available.
