Bombay Hook National Wildlife Refuge is seeking responsible individuals who have an interest in wildlife conservation, public relations, maintenance work, and environmental education.

A meeting for new volunteers will be held Saturday, Sept. 4 from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., at the refuge visitor center. The meeting will cover volunteer opportunities and upcoming activities, with the latter part of the session being a tour of the Refuge.

Individuals are needed to staff the visitor center and operate The Refuge Store on weekends and weekdays starting in September. Volunteers are also needed to provide environmental education programs for school groups, conduct refuge tours, provide trail and landscaping maintenance, and help with highway cleanups. Volunteers may be called upon for special wildlife projects throughout the year.

The Visitor Center, which is open all year long during the week from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., will reopen on weekends starting Sept. 4. Weekend hours are from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. It will remain open on the weekends through Dec. 5.

Fall and early winter is the best time for viewing waterfowl and raptors. Come to Bombay Hook National Wildlife Refuge to enjoy the wildlife and to help make a difference in wildlife conservation.

For more information on upcoming events visit the website: http://bomayhook.fws.gov or call Tina Watson on 302-653-6872.
