A meeting for new volunteers will be held Saturday, Sept. 4 from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., at the refuge visitor center. The meeting will cover volunteer opportunities and upcoming activities, with the latter part of the session being a tour of the Refuge.

The Lillian Smith Senior Center in Clayton is hosting a yard sale today, Friday, Aug. 20, from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m., with lunch available.

Smyrna will be celebrating its sixth annual National Night Out on Tuesday, Aug. 31 from 6 – 8:30 p.m., and the community is invited to enjoy what has become one of Smyrna’s largest annual block parties. The celebration is sponsored by the Smyrna Downtown Renaissance Association in cooperation with the Smyrna Police Department.
Monday, July 26, through Friday, July 30, First Presbyterian Church in Smyrna will offer programs for children ages 4 to 15 at Vacation Bible School. The church is located at 118 West Commerce Street, across from the firehouse. The public is invited. Walk-in registration on July 26 will start at 5 p.m.
