The Delaware Department of Transportation recently announced the launch of the Transportation Alternatives Program website.

The community-driven program facilitates the development of nontraditional transportation projects with the goal of providing choices for nonmotorized users that are safe, reliable and convenient.

TAP is a Federal Highway Administration program under the Fixing America's Surface Transportation Act that was passed into law in December 2015. The purpose of TAP is to encourage community-based projects encompassing a variety of smaller-scale transportation projects, such as pedestrian and bicycle facilities, recreational trails, safe routes to school projects, historic preservation and vegetation management and environmental mitigation related to stormwater and habitat connectivity.
