The driver who was hospitalized after a crash this morning near Hartly has died.
The Delaware State Police Collision Reconstruction Unit is investigating the single-vehicle crash, said State Police Master Corporal Gary Fournier.
At about 3:40 a.m., Elmer C. Jeronimo-Gonzalez, 29, of Marydel, Maryland, was driving a 2001 Toyota Tundra pickup west on Halltown Road (State Route 8).
As he was approaching Brittany Lane, the truck went off the north edge of the road and struck a tree with its front bumper, Fournier said.
Jeronimo-Gonzalez, who was not properly restrained, was taken by an emergency medical services crew to Bayhealth Kent General Hospital.
He died a short time later, Fournier said.
Halltown Road between Hartly Road (State Route 44) and Brittney Lane was closed for about two-and-a-half hours while the crash was investigated and cleared.
One person was hurt in a single-vehicle crash west of Pearson's Corner near Hartly early this morning.
The crash happened at about 3:40 a.m., on Halltown Road (Route 8) between Brittney Lane and Crouse Lane, said State Police Master Corporal Gary Fournier.
One person was taken to an area hospital in serious condition, Fournier said.
Route 8 between Hartly Road (Route 44) and Brittney Lane was closed temporarily after the crash.
Fournier said more information will be released at the end of the investigation.
